ABOUT LIONS CLUBS INTERNATIONAL

Lions Clubs is the world's largest service club organization with more than 1.35 million members across 46,000 clubs in 209 countries. Whenever a Lions Club gets together, problems get smaller, and communities get better. That is because Lions help where help is needed.

Started in the year 1917, by Founder Lion Melvin Jones and it has spread to over 67 Countries. In India the Service Organisation set its foot in the year 1956 at Delhi. Below is the brief introduction to the Lions Clubs spread all over the world.

KINDNESS IN ACTION

When caring people join together, roll up their sleeves and take action to make their community better, it’s a beautiful thing—and an incredible feeling for everyone involved. That’s Lions. Being a Lion is about leading by example, building relationships and improving the world through kindness. It’s 1.4 million caring men and women serving together so they can make a lasting impact and change more lives.

THE BENEFITS OF BEING A LION

When you become a Lion, you become part of a global network of volunteers working together to make a difference. Here are just a few of the great benefits you can expect.
Join a Community of Good There are over 48,000 Lions clubs around the world. Each is filled with people like you who’ve decided to take action and serve others. Lions form unique friendships and meaningful connections that can last a lifetime.
Put Leadership Skills into Action A Lions club is a great place to develop your leadership skills and put them into action. Each club offers opportunities to lead, along with first-class training from our global association.
Experience the Feeling of Service At the heart of Lions clubs there is one constant: service. Giving your time and energy to others is a fantastic way to help your community. Yet, it also provides a great feeling for you that can spread and have a positive impact in your life and how you approach the world.
Access a Global Support System Every Lion and club is supported by our international association. More than 300 Lions International staff members are constantly working on tools and technology to enhance your service.

OUR GLOBAL CAUSES

Every journey begins with a single step. One act of service, one encouraging word, one gift of generosity is often all it takes to bring hope where it’s needed most. Over the last 100 years, the kindness of Lions and Leos has multiplied across borders, oceans, and continents. With over 1.4 million members, we now have an opportunity to truly change our world. That’s why we’re uniting our global service around five areas of need. These Global Causes present significant challenges to humanity, and we believe it’s our turn to meet them.
Diabetes : We serve to reduce the prevalence of diabetes and improve quality of life for those diagnosed.
Vision : We serve to prevent avoidable blindness and improve quality of life for people who are blind and visually impaired.
Hunger : We serve to ensure all community members have access to nutritious foods.
Environment : We serve to sustainably protect and restore our environment to improve the well-being of all communities.
Childhood Cancer : Lions and Leos provide support for the needs of children and families affected by childhood cancer through impactful service activities.
Eyeglasses and hearing aids recycling : Since 1925, Lions International has been a champion in helping combat vision impairment and blindness. With this same conviction, Lions have also been a force in providing medical care and education to help prevent hearing loss.

PURPOSE AND ETHICS

As Lions, we hold ourselves to the absolute highest standards in everything we do. Our members and clubs are dedicated to serving others, and it shows. We champion kindness in our communities and actively work to improve the lives of all people.

Our Purpose

To Create and foster a spirit of understanding among the peoples of the world.
To Promote the principles of good government and good citizenship.
To Take an active interest in the civic, cultural, social and moral welfare of the community.
To Unite the clubs in the bonds of friendship, good fellowship and mutual understanding.
To Provide a forum for the open discussion of all matters of public interest; provided, however, that partisan politics and sectarian religion shall not be debated by club members.
To Encourage service-minded people to serve their community without personal financial reward, and to encourage efficiency and promote high ethical standards in commerce, industry, professions, public works and private endeavors.

Our Code of Ethics

To Show my faith in the worthiness of my vocation by industrious application to the end that I may merit a reputation for quality of service.
To Seek success and to demand all fair remuneration or profit as my just due, but to accept no profit or success at the price of my own self-respect lost because of unfair advantage taken or because of questionable acts on my part.
To Remember that in building up my business it is not necessary to tear down another's; to be loyal to my clients or customers and true to myself.
Whenever a doubt arises as to the right or ethics of my position or action towards others, to resolve such doubt against myself.
To Hold friendship as an end and not a means. To hold that true friendship exists not on account of the service performed by one to another, but that true friendship demands nothing but accepts service in the spirit in which it is given.
Always to bear in mind my obligations as a citizen to my nation, my state, and my community, and to give them my unswerving loyalty in word, act, and deed. To give them freely of my time, labor and means.
To Aid others by giving my sympathy to those in distress, my aid to the weak, and my substance to the needy.
To Be Careful with my criticism and liberal with my praise; to build up and not destroy.
